Homemade Cleaning Solution Recipes
Glass Cleaner
1 cup rubbing alcohol with 1 cup water
with 1 tablespoon vinegar
Using isopropyl alcohol and white vinegar together makes a quickly evaporating spray glass and mirror cleaner that competes with national brands. This can also be used to give a nice shine to hard tiles, chrome, and other surfaces.
Gentle all-surface cleaner (countertops, stove range, floors, toilet seat, refrigerator doors and shelves and so much more)
Mix 1 Cup of white vinegar and 1 Cup cool water in a trigger spray bottle
*for stubborn spots including soap scum and water deposits warm the solution and douse area generously then let stand for 10 minutes before cleaning
Strong all-surface cleaning solution
Mix 1 Tablespoon of ammonia with 1 Tablespoon clear laundry detergent with 2 cups cool water in a trigger spray bottle.
Gentle scouring cleaner (bathtub rings, food residue in refrigerators, kitchen counters, and so much more)
Pour baking soda in an empty and clean Parmesan cheese sprinkle top container or sugar shaker (salt shaker holes are too small)
Sprinkle baking soda onto a damp sponge and go to work.
Strong scouring paste cleaner (reside around faucets, tub, sink, soap scum, and much more)
Make a paste using one part water and two parts baking soda. Then slather the paste onto tough to clean areas, wait ten minutes and clean easily.
Toilet bowl cleaner (or hard to clean mineral deposits or soap scum areas)
To empty the toilet bowl pour a bucket of water into the bowl so the water is forced out. Then spray undiluted white vinegar all around the bowl. Scrub with your regular toilet brush and use a pumice stone (yes, a pumice stone) to remove any hard to scrub rings.
Glass and shiny surface spray solution cleaner (windows, glass, chrome, ceramic tile, and much more)
Mix 1 cup rubbing isopropyl alcohol with 1 cup cool water with 1 tablespoon white vinegar in a trigger spray bottle.
Strong soaking solution (showerheads, faucets with mineral deposits)
Pour 1/2 cup of undiluted white vinegar into a plastic food storage bag then rubber band the bag to the faucet or showerhead using a rubber band. Be sure the item is soaking in the solution. Let stand for two to six hours then rinse. Use an old toothbrush or old baby bottle washer, if necessary, to clear the holes of any reside.
Note: Concerned about a vinegar smell left behind, don’t be. Once dry the aroma disappears. Clearly label each container so you know what product is for what use. Also you might write the recipe directly on the bottle so you can refill it easily.
